It’s time for something that is both very different for us, and very near and dear to our hearts. I (Sarah) first met Meg four years ago at a filmmaking workshop, and it didn’t take long to realize we’d become friends. We would see each other again at another conference a few months later, and this time Rick and Brian were there as well. It seemed pretty clear to us that there was something special about Meg & Bri, but it would be a while before they actually admitted publicly that yes, they were a couple. Seriously though, a love like theirs is hard to hide.
When they got engaged, we were absolutely ecstatic. I loved hearing and talking about their plans for a destination wedding in the White Mountains in Jackson, New Hampshire. It sounded so amazing, and so perfect for them. It was during one of our marathon talks that somehow the topic of 16mm and Super 8mm film came up, and that’s when Meg had the idea for us to shoot their entire wedding on film. You see, through their jobs they are both very involved in the photography and filmmaking world, and while they knew they wanted a video of some kind, they wanted something different.
I won’t lie… I was quite nervous. Like, way more nervous than I usually am before a wedding, which means I was crazy nervous! We had shot film before, but never an entire wedding. Still, we were up to the challenge. It really is a fun feeling, stepping back from the digital world and working with film cameras from the 70s & 80s… and while the weekend was not free of snafus, we had an amazing time capturing this unique wedding in a unique way.
